Funny you say that I'm just trying to create such effect by exploding a
group of blobs with shredder and winbatch....
I must adnmit it is very slow and the first results are totally unconvincing,
you could always try to use the ripple effect with a very high deformation
and a texture like mountain top to make the crest of the splash transparent?

At the risk of sounding like a scratchy old record [btw, isn't it interesting
to see metaphors and analogies change over time. At some point in the future,
this analogy won't mean anything at all ......], take a look in the aminet
archives or at conny's page. Look for a document called dare2imagine. In the
Forms section, there is a splash tutorial by Steve Worley.
There is a wealth of information out there, if you look for it......
